Lindsay Lohan is known most famously as an American actress and pop singer, although she has accumulated a large amount of headlines and column inches for a colourful personal life. Littered with rehabilitation, probation and community service her career has been marred with heavy negative exposure from the press.
At age 10, she began her acting career in the soap opera Another World; at 11, she made her motion picture debut by playing identical twins in Disney's 1998 remake of The Parent Trap.
Lohan rose to stardom with her leading roles in the films Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls and Herbie: Fully Loaded. Her subsequent roles include appearances in A Prairie Home Companion and Bobby. In 2004, Lohan launched a second career in pop music yielding the albums Speak (2004) and A Little More Personal (Raw) (2005).
After a period in rehab and with the press seemingly constantly on the hunt for scandal and gossip Lindsay has started moving away from more teen orientated films. A role in Chapter 27 about the famous murder of John Lennon, saw Linday star alongside Jared Leto in a departure from the types of film that saw Lohan break through.
Lindsay is still in her early 20's and with a strong work ethic and obvious acting ability the future can still be bright for a starlet who has so far been tainted with a life in the spot light. She is slated to be joining the cast of Ye Olde Times alongside Jack Black with filming due to start in April 2008 and also on the horizon is a role playing Nancy Pitman in Manson Girls a film about Charles Manson. Both projects will definitely mark the end of Lindsay Lohan's more juvenile films and possibly see her make that transition between teen starlet hounded by the media for the wrong reasons into an A list actress with media coverage for the right reasons.
